A man doubted of being a meaningful supplier of minuscule boats providement to people traffickers has been arrested in Amsterdam follotriumphg a combinet operation by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) and Dutch and Belgian police.
The man is doubted of provideing engines and boats to traffickers in northern France, according to the NCA.
The Turkish national, 44, was arrested at Schiphol Airport on Wednesday and will be extradited to Belgium to face accuses of human illegal trading.
UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer shelp the arrest was a “meaningful piece of the jigsaw” in tackling Channel passings.
But Sir Keir inserted he was “not pretfinishing it [was] the silver bullet”.
Authorities shelp the man, who has not been named, shipped supplies from Turkey, stored them in Germany, then conveyed them to northern France.
He was arrested after authorities lacquireed he was travelling from Turkey to the Netherlands.

He called the arrest a milestone in one of the agency’s “most meaningful spendigations into organised immigration crime”.
Sir Keir shelp the arrest showed the rulement’s “approach of toiling with international partners to smash the people illegal trading gangs” was toiling.
“Criminal gangs have been getting away with this for far too extfinished,” the prime minister shelp.
Earlier this month Sir Keir proclaimd an extra £75m to police the UK’s borders, votriumphg to “treat people traffickers appreciate alarmists”.
He shelp Thursday’s arrest was “an meaningful step”, but that other meacertains would also be essential to reduce passings.
More than 50 people have died trying to pass the English Channel in 2024.
Over 32,000 people have made the passing in 2024 so far – more than the total figure of 29,437 for 2023.
