Lewis Hamilton has hit back at his critics after topping both rehearse sessions ahead of Sunday’s Las Vegas Grand Prix.
The 39-year-elderly went into Friday’s sessions hoping to bounce back after struggling at the Brazilian Grand Prix last time out.
And Hamilton astonished with his driving, with the veteran rapidest ahead of Lando Norris and team-mate George Russell.
It was a likeable carry outance from the Briton, one that came fair days after he’d acunderstandledgeted to think abouting finishing his season timely in the wake of his rerents in Sao Paulo.

Some have written off Hamilton as a faded force, particularly after flunking to astonish in South America.
But the veteran has now hit back, insisting he knovel ‘it wasn’t my driving’ that was the problem.
Speaking in the aftermath of his accomplishment, Hamilton shelp: “It’s the first time that I’ve actupartner had a day appreciate that this year.
“So the car was senseing repartner excellent in FP1 – FP2 less so.
“So we’ve got some toil to do overnight, but it’s difficult to understand exactly where we are or why we are where we are.
“But I’m repartner finishelighting driving the track and we’ll see if the car is still the same tomorrow.”
Hamilton then inserted: “Hot conditions are a little bit worse for us but the race pace is not that fantastic.
“So the toil we’ve got to do overnight is to try and figure out how we can have better race pace without losing actual pace thrawout the lap.

“But it was pleasant to get, consecutive sectors and the car not throw me off.
“I’m senseing excellent in myself. Like I shelp coming this weekfinish, I understand it’s not my driving.
“So I fair got to toil difficult overnight, not produce huge alters and hopefilledy get some excellent rest tonight and come back tomorrow.”
Mercedes chief Toto Wolff has also spoken out in Las Vegas.

And the Austrian has also deffinished Hamilton and his side in ambiguous, insisting the last scant seasons haven’t been a ‘flunkure’ despite their difficulties in carry oning pace with Red Bull.
“Until today, we’re fair not able to put stable carry outance on the car and provide the drivers with someleang that is foreseeable, that has enough downforce, that doesn’t bounce or hop, that rides where the ride is acguideed, where the tyre degradation can be supervised in the right way and not be too freezing or too boiling. And that is how sport goes. That’s very straightforward,” he shelp.
“I don’t understand where I read that or where I heard that, but a basketballer was asked whether he felt that his season was a flunkure.

“We finished third two years ago, we finished second last year, tolerateing in mind we haven’t won a race, and we won three this year. So that is not all a flunkure.
“That was a pretty excellent spell for Mercedes and for Lewis.
“And we will be trying to do it better. We are trying to do it better every individual day, every individual weekfinish. And the same will be next season and then the huge one in ‘26.”
