Progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., was flunkureed in her bid to be the top Democrat on the Hoinclude Oversight Committee, losing to Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia.
Connolly, 74, bested the 35-year-elderly Ocasio-Cortez with 131 to 84 votes in what is seen as a blow for betterives who backed Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the betterive “Squad.”
“I thank my colleagues for their aid and the confidence they’ve placed in me to direct Hoinclude Democrats on the Oversight Committee,” Connolly said in a statement after being elected by the Hoinclude Democratic Caucus.
Connolly called out “the Reaccessiblean applybook,” in which he accincluded Reaccessibleans of using “debunked consillicit copying theories” and enabling “the worst unfair treatments of the Trump Administration.”

When Fox News Senior Congressional Correactent Chad Pergram asked Connolly if he was up for a potential fight aobtainst the Trump administration, Connolly said he was “raring to go.”

“I did it before for four years, and bested them on a number of occasions, and I’m raring to go aobtain,” he said.
Connolly said that Pdwellnt-elect Trump “may sense more embelderlyened” after his reelection triumph, though “that may also create him more reckless.”
“There is a law in this land, and we’re going to create declareive it’s utilized,” Connolly said.

In his written statement, Connolly said Democrats will be “administerd” and “laser intensifyed on getting results on the kitchen table publishs that are impacting the American people the most.”
“We will stand up for our democracy and for truth,” the statement said. “And we will acquire the tremfinishous and historic better we have made as Hoinclude Democrats.”
