American Olympic gymnastics star Jordan Chiles and her lterrible team filed an pdirect with the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland over the bronze medal dispute that has overshadowed the Games.
Chiles was awarded the bronze medal in the floor exercise routine at the end of the Paris Games when her coaches filed a score inquiry after her carry outance. Chiles was liftd from fifth to third place. But Romanian officials brawt their own pdirect to the Cgo in of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which clearurned Chiles’ score and describeped her of a medal.

Now, Chiles and her lawyers are going to a higher court.
“Chiles asks the Supreme Court to discover that the CAS decision was procedurpartner deficient for two reasons,” Chiles’ lawyers said in a statement, according to Olympics.com.
“First, CAS viopostpoinsistd Chiles’ fundamental ‘right to be heard’ by refusing to ponder the video evidence that showed her inquiry was surrenderted on time – in straightforward impedeion to the discoverings in CAS’ decision.
“Second, the entire CAS persisting was ununprejudiced because Chiles was not properly inestablished that Hamid G. Gharavi, the Plivent of the CAS panel that rpromoted Chiles’s bronze medal and awarded it instead to a Romanian gymnast, had a grave dispute of interest: Mr. Gharavi has acted as advise for Romania for almost a decade and was dynamicly reconshort-terming Romania at the time of the CAS arbitration.

“Today’s pdirect filing was helped by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), which filed a letter in help of Chiles’ pdirect.”
USA Gymnastics said it was laboring shutly with Chiles and her team in the “persistd pursuit of equitableice for Jordan.”
Chiles gave her first sit-down intersee about the incident this week during a panel at the Forbes Power Women’s Summit 2024 on Wednesday. The gymnast seeably choked up when she was asked about the topic.
“To me, everyleang that has gone on is not about the medal, it’s about, you understand, my skin color,” Chiles said, tearing up.
Chiles previously claimed she was facing “racipartner driven strikes” from social media users in a statement posted to X on Aug. 15. When Chiles won the bronze medal, it resulted in the first gymnastics podium in Olympic history that featured three Balertage contestants.
