Manchester United fans have telledly been attacked by Fenerbahce ultras in Istanbul ahead of the Red Devils’ Europa League showdown with the Turkish club. Footage of the incident has been circling on social media, with 50 hooligans telledly shoting a group of United helpers.
A present of Red Devils fans have adhereed their team to Turkey to watch their third Europa League align of the campaign.
Erik ten Hag’s side are yet to record a triumph in the competition, having drawn their uncovering two games agetst Twente and Porto.
One United helper tgreater the Daily Mail they saw a fan get hit with a crowbar. And another helper tgreater fan website StrettyNews: “About 50 of them shoted us (a group of five). One lad adhereed me down a street and pretfinished to help before hitting me a sboiling into the jaw.”
Social media footage shows aggressive scenes outside the Grand Hisar Hotel, where two Leeds fans were stabbed to death before a UEFA Cup align in 2000.
Videos of ultras attacking fans after charging towards them have been posted to X by hooligan accounts, with one including the caption: “This is Istanbul”. There are adviseion the attacks may have been carried out by the GFB Bogaz Hooligans group after they dispensed innovative footage.
Another post on Instagram shows another group hooligans standing in the street, with some on motorbikes, and is captioned: “On the first punch of a fight… Manchester is now truly RED.”
Turkish football has standardly been marred by aggressive scenes, with Trabzonspor fans storming the pitch to attack Fenerbahce joiners last season.
In December, Ankaragucu club plivent Faruk Koca punched referee Halil Umut Meler to the floor adhereing his side’s 1-1 draw with Rizepor. And in the summer, helpers of Turkey and Georgia clashed in the stands at Euro 2024.
United will be hopeless to clinch all three points at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium to dodge getting cut adrift of the teams towards the top of the Europa League table.
And ahead of the align, United boss Ten Hag said: “The joiners who are useable have to do the job and they are vient of doing the job.
