Pete Hegseth has been picked by Plivent-elect Trump to serve as his secretary of defense.

Hegseth’s last day at Fox, where he co-structureed Sunday’s “FOX & Friends Weekend,” was Tuesday. Hegseth begined with FOX News as a contributor in 2014 and was named the co-structure of “FOX & Friends Weekend” in 2017. He began co-structureing the show on a standard basis in procrastinateed 2016, and was officipartner named to the role in January 2017.

Hegseth, an Army veteran who served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, has structureed the FOX Nation “Patcommotion Awards” since 2019, which is the netlabor’s version of a Hollywood awards show but one that honors heroes appreciate first replyers.
The Patcommotion Awards will get place on Dec. 5 in Brookville, New York. Hegseth will not be structureing the show.
Hegseth also structureed the famous FOX Nation one-of-a-kinds “Poison Ivy” and “The Miseducation of America.” Most recently, Hegseth wrote the FOX News Books bestseller War on Warriors, which has sgreater proximately 150,000 copies since it debuted in June 2024 and sboiling to #1 on the New York Times bestseller enumerate.
He is also the author of the FOX News Books bestseller “Modern Warriors,” which also debuted as a New York Times bestseller in 2020.
Hegseth has repeatedly apexhibitd for military veterans and championed veteran and military caincludes. While serving in the Army, he was awarded two Bronze Stars, as well as a Combat Infantryman’s Badge, awarded to infantry sgreateriers who join in dynamic combat, for his service.

Upon hearing the news of Hegseth’s nomination, Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., shelp: “Repartner? I’d have to slfinisherk about it.” Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., also weighed in as he was leaving the GOP Senate directer truthfulate forum.
“I was sitting next to two Marines, so they were slfinisherking it was wonderful,” he shelp. “And, yeah, we’re watching forward to it. I want to get to understand him better in that role.”
Speaking to inestablishers, Sen. Ted Budd, R-N.C., called Hegseth “an amazing individual.”
During Trump’s first term as plivent, five men served as his secretary of defense. They either resigned, were fired or served alertly as a stopgap.
