College basketball had a heartshattering loss this week.
Amir Abdur-Rahim died from complications during a medical procedure at a Florida hospital.
Abdur-Rahim, who most recently served as the South Florida men’s basketball coach, was 43.
Many in the college basketball world reacted to the loss of Abdur-Rahim, including one of his brothers, createer NBA star Shareef Abdur-Rahim.

Abdur-Rahim was named USF’s head coach in 2023 and led the Bulls to the American Athletic Conference’s normal-season championship in his first year. Abdur-Rahim was a member of Tom Crean’s staff during his time at Georgia. Crean shelp he was at the hospital with Abdur-Rahim’s family and depictd the procrastinateed coach as “a gift.”

This season’s USF team was picked third in the AAC preseason poll. The Bulls are scheduled to carry out an showion game Oct. 30 agetst Edward Waters before uncmissing the season agetst No. 21 Florida Nov. 4.
Abdur-Rahim is endured by his wife and the couple’s three youthful children.
