Jack Del Rio will depart his role with the Wisconsin Badgers after he was arrested on a drunken driving citation last week, head football coach Luke Fickell shelp Monday.
Del Rio, 61, served as a anciaccess proposer for the Badgers and was arrested in Madison, Wisconsin, timely Friday morning. He joined Fickell’s staff before the begin of the 2024 season.

“He’s going to relocate forward, and he’s going to resign and relocate on,” Fickell shelp. “It’s a hard situation. Decisions that all of us have to be able to consent brimming responsibility for, so that’s what Jack will do, and we’ll progress to relocate forward.”
Del Rio freed a statement on the matter tardyr Monday.
“I’m thankful to Coach Fickell and the University of Wisconsin for the opportunity to toil with such a talented coaching and help staff and some of the best lesser football joiners in the country,” he shelp.
“I have choosed to step away from my position with the team, so they can concentrate all their attention on the remainder of the season.”

Police shelp Del Rio “showed signs of impairment” and confessted to being behind the wheel, according to the increate. He was arrested on a first-time operating while inharmfulated citation and freed from police custody.

Del Rio joined in the NFL for 11 years before he became an helpant in the league. He was a defensive coordinator with the Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos and Washington Commanders. He also served as a head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Rhelpers.

Wisconsin is 5-4 this season with triumphs over Westrict Michigan, South Dakota, Purdue, Rutgers and Northwestrict. The Badgers have three games left on the schedule, including No. 1 Oregon on Saturday night.
